As a church, we are entering a period of fasting and prayer to seek God’s direction regarding our building and what He may be wanting to say to us in this season. When we first moved into this building in 2018, twenty years after our start, it was through prayer and faith, trusting that God would faithfully provide for us to purchase the building and house our current needs while allowing us to grow. Through God’s faithfulness and the generosity of our members and alumni, we paid for half of the building up front and raised the remaining half in the next three years.

Over time, the cost and effort required to maintain the building have continued to increase, and necessary repairs have reached a level that requires thoughtful consideration. While we have already addressed some needs, there are still major repairs ahead that would require substantial resources.

Because of this, we are prayerfully discerning whether remaining in this space or potentially selling is the right path forward. While we can just weigh the pros and cons, we want to take this as an opportunity to seek the Lord together—trusting that He will guide us, just as He has in the past. During these two weeks, we are inviting everyone to listen, pray, and fast as we ask for unity, wisdom, and direction. No final decision has been made, and we believe that as we seek God together, He will make His will known to us.

PRAYER FOCUS

Join us in asking GOD for:

  • Hearts that desire to honor him together as a body
    • We want to honor God above all else in making this decision.
    • We want to ask the Holy Spirit to help us evaluate our own motives -and just acknowledge that we have both good motives and unhealthy motives (fear, comfort, selfishness, etc.)
  • A willingness to share honest feedback but ultimately surrender our own wills, hopes, and even dreams to God' plan
    • "not my will but Yours be done"
    • People to share honestly and humbly
  • Renewed vision to grow as a house of intimacy with GOD that is made up of people from all nations.
    • The real work that needs to be done is not necessarily the building but in our hearts
    • We want to renew our first love for Jesus
    • We want to grow in corporate worship
  • Wisdom and guidance for the Leadership Council and Board to make the final decision.

We invite you to share any reflections or thoughts from your time of prayer and fasting. Our Leadership Council and the Board will prayerfully consider all that is shared.

frequently asked questions

Fasting & Praying

What is fasting and how do I do it?

Fasting is the practice of voluntarily setting something aside in order to create space to seek God. There are several ways to fast, but we most often see people in Scripture fasting from food. Some may fast from a single meal; others may fast for a full day, drinking only water, or nothing at all. If fasting from food is not possible for health or other reasons, consider fasting from something you rely on heavily — social media, entertainment, or another daily habit. Whatever you set aside, use that time to go to God in prayer. The goal is not the act of fasting itself, but ultimately to remind us that we are truly dependent on God for everything.

Why can't we make a decision without fasting?

It's not that we can't. We can - and often - make decisions without fasting. These next two weeks are more than making a decision. Rather, we are seeking to know God's will for us in this big decision. We know that when we seek Him, He will reveal Himself just as He did with Moses and the Israelites. He went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night, providing His presence and direction, never forsaking them. We believe He will do the same for us so that we can follow in obedience and faith wherever He leads.

What should I pray about when I'm fasting?

Here are some prayer points to guide your time with God:

  • Hearts that desire to honor him together as a body
  • A willingness to share honest feedback but ultimately surrender our own wills, hopes, and even dreams to God' plan
  • Renewed vision to grow as a house of intimacy with GOD that is made up of people from all nations
  • Wisdom and guidance for the Leadership Council and Board to make the final decision

Will there be opportunities for us to fast and pray together during the next two weeks?

Yes. We are planning a time of corporate worship, fasting, and prayer on Friday, May 22nd, 6-9pm at the church building. We will also gather on the final day, Sunday, May 31st, for a time of prayer following the service. More details to come.

What happens if people sense different answers from God?

That is a good question because it means we aren't deciding from a vote. Something about submission and listening and understanding others with humiltiy.

Building Maintenance

What's wrong with the building?

Xyz. Link architects building performance report. We've made some repairs already…this is how much we have spent on repairs. #1 issue is south wall

Why are we considering selling now?

Answer with some context about how we bought the building - prayed and campaign. God provided. The cost and effort of maintaning this building. And our church body is shrinking so our funds are

Where will we go if we sell it?

We don't know, but that’s why we're fasting and praying. We believe that if God is calling us to move, He already has a place in mind. But we don't want to get ahead of Him by planning our next location before we've already confirmed His leading. If He says move, He will show us where.

Financial Questions

Are we in financial trouble?

The short answer is no, but we could be. We recently shared our 2025 financial report and we are not operating in the red. Given the amount of repairs and cost estimate p[rpvodie the arrchitect,we don't have enough to do all those repairs. But if God wants us to stay, we know that the Lord will provide what we need. We also paid off this building

Have we considered ways to generate more income to help maintain the building?

We have been actively exploring options, including grant funding from the National Fund for Sacred Spaces. We submitted a proposal in Grant - waitin gon answer

Don't we have a building fund?

Yes, we do.  Thank you to those who have been giving faithfully to this fund. We have spent $$$XXX it to do asbestos repair, etc. currently ,we have $xxxx.  However, we still need more to do all the repairs necessary.

How much is our building worth?

Idk but we're working with real estate people who are appraising. Depends on the condition, also easier to religious organization.
